The Giuseppe Mazzotti pottery, an artisan firm that produces its products completely by hand, was founded in 1903 in Albisola Italy, and since then, with the same initial passion of its founder, continues to produce prestigious ceramics.
Albisola is a charming village in Liguria, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the Atelier is just a few steps from the beach. From the beginning the Atelier interwined its experiences with twentieth century artistic and cultural movements and went on to become a reference point for ceramics production.
In the Thirties Filippo Tommaso Marinetti and Futurist artist such as : Fillia, Fortunato Depero, Nicolaj Diulgheroff, Nino Strada, Bruno Munari, Alf Gaudenzi, Mario Anselmo, together with the Mazzotti family, made kiln ceramics that were an expression of the Futurist Movement.
These were precious works of art which are still made today by Tullio Mazzotti, a fourth generation member of the Mazzotti family of pottery, using the same design, the same material and same manual working procedures.
During the second half of the twentieth century the pottery continued its relationship with the art world welcoming to its laboratories Lucio Fontana, Asger Jorn, Aligi Sassu, Enrico Baj, Sergio Dangelo, Corneille, Sebastian Matta thus making the relationship between Ceramics and Art Inseparable.
Today the Giuseppe Mazzotti pottery is a cultural reference point both in Italy and worldwide for the production of limited adition designs and hand-crafted ceramics made for clinets on a commission basis.
