The history of this company begins in 1949. Lorenzo Borgheresi, born in 1935 in Incisa Valdarno, starts to work as a tinsmith apprentice for a craftsman in the historical centre of Florence, in a workshop situated in Via Sdrucciolo dei Pitti. Despite the large distance from Valdarno, young Lorenzo goes to work every day with great devotion, driven by his enthusiasm and his talent. After three years his employer dies untimely at the age of 53 years. At this point Lorenzo decides to carry out the enterprise by continuing on his own, well aware of his great lack of experience. The boy is only 17 years old, but he has a great strength of mind, so he carries on the work despite the many difficulties he has to cope with. In 1953 he takes over the little workshop and founds the firm. Military service impedes Lorenzo to work for 18 months. When he opens the workshop again the demands of the Italian market have changed. Fortunately, thanks to his outstanding capacities, he was able to create new models. With new materials like brass, copper and coloured glass he creates the star-shaped lantern, which adapts itself to every type of interior design according to the coat. This lantern becomes the most representative object of the firm.
He further creates models like the Veneziane (Venetians), Lampioni Fiorentini (Florentine streetlamps) and a lot of other lamps in antique style, still present in the catalogue of the firm. During the past 50 years his work has kept on growing. Today it continued by his son Fabrizio and his son-in-law Stefano, who inherited the passion of Lorenzo. They both work in the new site of the firm, situated in Via Toscanella, a few steps from the old workshop. They keep on improving the techniques of construction and restoration, but still follow the original style of the handmade manufacturing.
